A small, professional team. No account managers, no layers, and the person who replies to your email is the person who builds your site.
We build websites for small businesses, and then we host them on our own server and look after them. Both halves matter. Plenty of people will build you a site and walk off. Plenty more will host it and never look at it. Doing both is why the sites we run tend to still be working three years later.
We are based in Weymouth, on the Dorset coast, and we work with businesses wherever they are. Pubs, trades, a B&B, a couple of shops, and software built for businesses across Europe. We also run a few of our own things, including Weymouth Life, which is the local information site for the town, and Register2Park. Building our own means we find the problems before a customer does.
There is no sales team. When you email, the person who reads it is the person who will build your site. That is slower to scale and much better to deal with.

Who actually builds my site?
The same person you email. Kalchevo is a small studio, not an agency with account managers and outsourced developers. The person who reads your enquiry writes the scope, builds the site and answers your support jobs.
What happens if Kalchevo disappears?
Your content is always yours and you can export the lot from your account at any time, without asking. Your domain is yours and can be transferred away at any time. The server is backed up nightly and the backups are kept for 30 days. We have been running our own businesses on this platform for years, so it is not going anywhere, but you should never have to take that on trust, which is why the export button exists.
Where is my data kept?
On our own dedicated server in a German data centre, behind Cloudflare, with nightly backups. It is covered by UK GDPR exactly as it would be on a server in Britain. The full detail is in our privacy notice.
Is my site secure?
Every site is built by us without third party plugins, which is where most small business sites get broken into. The server is patched, monitored every minute, and nobody outside Kalchevo has a login to it. Your admin panel only edits your own content.
Do I own the site?
You own everything you put into it: your words, photos, logo and products, and you can export them at any time. The code and templates that run it are ours, the same way a shop fitter owns their drawings, and the site runs for as long as we host it. The terms say this plainly.
Who holds my domain?
We do, in our registrar account, so the renewal is never missed. A .co.uk or .uk is free for as long as you host with us. It is your domain: ask and we release it to you or another provider within a working day, for the transfer out fee on the prices page.
