Where your site lives
On our own server, in Germany. Here is why.
Plenty of hosts go vague at this point. We would rather just tell you.
Your site sits on a root server we rent outright, in a data centre in Nuremberg. Not resold space, not a shared hosting box with two hundred strangers on it, not a reseller account with somebody else's name on the invoice. Ours, and we are the only people with a login to it.
Germany rather than Britain, and that is on purpose. German data centres are the best value in Europe by a long way, the network is excellent and the buildings are properly run. And with Cloudflare in front, your site loads quickly wherever your visitors are.
On your data. It is covered by UK GDPR exactly as it would be on a server in Slough. The UK and the EU each recognise the other's data protection as equivalent, so information moves between the two freely and lawfully. Nothing about this makes you less protected.
If you genuinely need it in Britain, some contracts and some public sector work do, say so on the form. We will tell you honestly whether we can do it and what it would add.

What a domain costs, and where yours actually lives.
This is the part of the industry people get stung on, so here it is in full.

Where your domain sits, and how you get it back
Straight answer: it sits in our registrar account, not yours. That is how we make sure renewals are never missed, and a missed renewal is the most common way a small business loses its website and its email overnight.
The domain is still yours. No contract, so you can leave any time. Want it moved to your own account, or to another provider? Ask and we release it within a working day for a one off £25 leaving fee. No delay and no argument.

Set up properly so it arrives
SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured on day one, which is the difference between your quotes landing in the inbox and landing in junk.
Extra mailboxes when you take somebody on
£1 a week each, which is £52 a year, with 2GB of storage. Ask for one from your account and it goes on your next bill. Starter sites add email the same way.
